TONYA WILLOUGBY

ALAPCAE

Tonya Willoughby is the AAESAP data technician for the Adult Education program at J.F. Ingram State Technical College (ISTC) in Deatsville, Alabama. ISTC serves Elmore, Montgomery, Shelby, and Jefferson counties. Tonya has worked in her position at ISTC for over five years and loves her job! She wears many different hats in the Adult Education department. Not only does Tonya organize and complete many projects, but she also provides guidance to her director and other staff. She has served on various committees at ISTC.  She was co-chair for the Council on Occupational Education (COE) Standard Four Strategic Planning committee for the college. Currently, she serves as the reporting secretary for ISTC’s Sick Leave Bank. In the past, Tonya was a presenter at an Information Technology (IT) Academy, where she taught a half-day session on Microsoft Excel to colleagues. Tonya has also served on the search committees and was the chairperson for ISTC’s annual cook-off. As a result of her hard work, Tonya was presented an Employee Recognition Program Award for outstanding performance as support staff.

Tonya earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Faulkner University in Montgomery, Alabama, and a master’s degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Entrepreneurship Studies from Jones International University in Centennial, Colorado. 

To decompress the stresses of everyday life, Tonya and her husband mountain bike on a weekly basis. In addition, Tonya practices the art of Taekwondo and currently holds a black belt. Furthermore, she is enrolled in the American Taekwondo Foundation and is working towards an instructor certification in Taekwondo. 

Tonya is a mother of three handsome young adult men and a step mom to a gorgeous daughter. She is a great example of someone who strives for excellence.  She believes in and possesses the qualities of courtesy, integrity, and perseverance, and those qualities have carried her a long way. As District 7 representative, Tonya will serve to the best of her ability and will welcome any suggestions or questions regarding ALAPCAE.
